As discussed below, we have implemented appropriate security safeguards designed to protect your information in accordance with industry standards.
1. What Information We Collect
A. Data Control
C. Profile Information
After you create an account, you may choose to provide additional information on your CareGuide profile, such as descriptions of your skills, professional experience, educational background and other information. With your approval, your connections may provide recommendations and endorsements of you. Providing additional information enables you to derive more benefit from CareGuide by helping you express your professional identity; find other professionals, opportunities, and information; and help clients find you.
Providing information to CareGuide is optional. If you choose not to register or provide your information, you can still visit many areas of our site; however, you won’t have access to the services or features that require registration. If you do provide us with information, you will be responsible for keeping your information updated. In order to update or change your registration information you may select the “My Account” feature on our site.
D. Customer Service
E. Using the CareGuide Site
We collect information when you use our site. For example, we collect information when you register for events, and share articles and events on CareGuide.
G. Log files, IP Addresses, and Information About Your Computer
When you visit or leave CareGuide by clicking a hyperlink we automatically receive the URL of the site from which you came or the one to which you are directed. We also receive the internet protocol (“IP”) address of your computer or the proxy server that you use to access the web, your computer operating system, your type of web browser, your mobile device (including your mobile device identifier provided by your mobile device operating system), your mobile operating system (if you are accessing CareGuide using a mobile device), and the name of your ISP or your mobile carrier. We may also receive location data passed to us from third-party services or GPS-enabled devices that you have set up, which we use to show you local information (for example, weather information) on our iPad application. Please be aware that other sites are covered by their own privacy policies. CareGuide is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites and we encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site.
CareGuide is always seeking to improve the services we offer you. We often introduce new features, some of which may result in the collection of new information. Furthermore, new partnerships may result in new features, and we may potentially collect new types of information. Your information may be shared as a result of partnerships that we may make with third parties.
2. How We Use Your Information
A. Consent to CareGuide Processing Information About You
B. CareGuide Communications
We communicate with you through e-mail, notices posted on the CareGuide website, messages to your CareGuide inbox, and other means available through the service. Examples of these messages include: (1) welcome and engagement messages – when you register on CareGuide, we may send you a series of e-mails to inform you about how to best use CareGuide as well as new features; (2) service messages – these will cover service availability, security, and other issues about the functioning of CareGuide; (3) promotional messages – these include both e-mail and CareGuide e-mail messages, and may contain promotional information directly or on behalf of our partners. These messages will be sent to you based on your profile information and messaging preferences. You may change your e-mail and contact preferences at any time by signing into your account and changing your e-mail settings. Please be aware that you cannot opt out of receiving service messages from CareGuide. With certain communications you send on CareGuide, the recipient can see your name, e-mail address, and some network information.
C. User Communications
Many communications that you initiate through CareGuide (for example, an invitation sent to a non-Member) will list your name and primary e-mail address in the header of the message. Once you have connected with an individual, regardless of who sent the invitation, your contact information will be shared with that individual. We use the information you provide on your profile to customize your experience on CareGuide.
D. Sharing Information with Third Parties
CareGuide offers a “public profile” feature that allows Members to publish portions of their CareGuide profile to the public Internet. This public profile will be indexed and displayed through public search engines when someone searches for your name. You may choose the parts of your profile that search engines index or completely opt out of this feature in your settings. However, third-party search engines may not automatically update their caches, which may contain old public profile information. Unless you delete it, your profile on CareGuide is always viewable on our website.
Content distributed through CareGuide’s sharing features and third-party integrations may result in displaying some of your information outside of CareGuide. For example, when you post content to CareGuide on the Community Calendar, your content, including your name as the contributor, may be displayed in search engine results.
Any information you put on your profile and any content you post on CareGuide may be seen by others. Other people may find your CareGuide profile information through search engines.
You can search for Members, information about organizations, and community content on CareGuide. For example, you can find Members with particular expertise or experience, or Members that you may know from your industry or profession. We use all information from CareGuide, including Member profiles, the Community Calendar, and organization pages, to inform and refine our search service.
You are responsible for any information you post on CareGuide, and this content will be accessible to others.
F. Public forums/chat rooms/message boards/bulletin boards/social networking
Throughout the CareGuide website various public forums including but not limited to community message boards are available to you as a registered CareGuide Member. Please remember that any information you disclose in these public forum areas becomes public information and is immediately accessible on the CareGuide website, so it is important for you to exercise discretion and appropriate caution when deciding to reveal information in these areas. CareGuide may decide to utilize the content of Q&A’s, interactions with experts, and/or chat room and message board content throughout the CareGuide website and in promotions in order to enhance CareGuide’s editorial, advertising, promotional and similar activities. In those cases, we often provide authorship credit by listing the author’s member name. We therefore encourage you to use care in protecting your identity when you choose a member name and to keep your member name confidential.
G. Compliance with Legal Process and Other Disclosures
3. Your Choices & Obligations
A. Rights to Access, Correct, or Delete Your Information, and Closing Your Account
You have a right to (1) access, modify, correct, or delete any information that you provide regarding your profile, (2) change or remove your content, and (3) close your account. Please note: Information you have shared with others (for example, through your CareGuide mailbox, network updates, content sharing, or Community Calendar) or that others have copied may also remain visible after you have closed your account or deleted the information from your own profile. In addition, you may not be able to access, correct, or eliminate any information about you that other Members copied or exported out of CareGuide, because this information may not be in our control. Your public profile may be displayed in search engine results until the search engine refreshes its cache.
